WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?
Cupping therapy is a form of traditional medicine in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. The suction promotes healing by increasing blood flow to the area and improving the flow of CHI or energy, in the body.

During a cupping session, I place cups on the skin using a vacuum device. The cups are left in place, and the suction creates a sensation of pulling on the skin. Myofascial adhesions are areas where the muscle fibers and surrounding connective tissue become stuck together, this can cause pain and restrict movement, by creating this suction effect, cupping therapy releases these adhesions and improves range of motion while reducing pain.
The increased blood flow to the area provides the tissues with a greater supply of oxygen and nutrients, which helps reduce muscle tension, soreness and pain. This increased blood flow stimulates the lymphatic system; a network of vessels and tissues that help maintain the body's fluid balances and defend against pathogens. Cupping pulls stagnant lymph fluid to the surface of the skin, where it can be reabsorbed and processed.
Cupping therapy is often used to treat musculoskeletal pain, such as back pain or neck pain, and it may be used to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.
