WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a form of therapy that is based on the concept of channeling energy to promote healing and balance in the body, mind and spirit.

Reiki is derived from two Japanese words:

"rei" which means universal and "ki" which means life force energy.

The healing energy is channeled through the hands of the practitioner and directed to the recipient to promote relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate pain, and support the body's natural healing processes. The energy flows through the practitioner's hands to the recipient's body, helping to balance and harmonize the energy centers, chakras, in the body.

 

During a Reiki session, the recipient typically lies down or sits comfortably while the practitioner places their hands on or near the recipient's body in a series of hand positions called mudras. The practitioner then channels the energy through their hands, directing it to the recipient's body.

 

People report relief from physical symptoms such as pain and tension. One of the main effects of reiki on the mind is stress relief. The gentle touch during a reiki session can help calm ease the mind and reduce feelings of anxiety, which can have an effect on overall mental health. Reiki may also help to improve sleep, reduce symptoms of depresion, and increase feelings of inner peace and well-being.
